Bros and Sisters;

I like calling myself a product of the 'Community'. I have been litelary educated by the society thro Harambees,donations,goodwill and working in pple's shambas back at shags,right from Primo,High Sch and finally Campus. You might laugh if I say I was bought my first leather shoe in 1996 wen I joined high sch throu the proceeds of a harambee which was also used to buy me uniform,blankets,slippers-basically everything-and to pay for my fees too. My local church bretherens even used to contribute towards my fare on my way back to campus. This they used to do out of their own good will.

Several years down the line,I am gland to God I am writting this in my house. Thou a rented one,I feel greatly indebted to that local community. Their good deeds will forever remain implanted in my heart. I am not yet there; very far from it,but I am convinced I dont have to wait till I am rich to give back to the society. It might never be enough.

As a small gesture of thanksgiving(I can never thank them enough),I intend to hold a thanksgiving ceremony in a few weeks time at the same venue my last harambee was held. Tho I have a small token for them in addition to the lunch we shall share,I was thinking of starting an education fund or a bursary sort of. I want to begin by supporting two bright but needy students from our local Secondary sch thro their form four for a year. However,I got an idea that I cud make this a lifetime project throu some sort of a fund. That way I cud even get some of my freds to contribute kidogo kidogo to the fund. I am dreaming or envisioning a fund that will be supporting many needy students in their education throughout the country. Many years down the line,I would like it to grow to become a powerful education foundation which can even build schools,sponser needy boys and girls all the way to the university.

I wana start with just two students-a boy and a girl- whom I will fund personally. However I need some insight on how such an initiative is built to a large thing. What are the legal requirements if any? Must it be registered with the goverment and if yes how. Please give any relevant advise,disclaimers,corrections,ideas or any comment that can help me out.
