We have an 8-year rule, so am puzzled that when I go to the KRA online calc. to calculate how much duty I need to pay for a 2009/6 vehicle and it doesn't have the 2009 option - its from 2010 only.
What am I missing, I thought 2009 cars are within the 8-yr rule?

You're missing the rule smile smile

Hi, Which importers do people use nowadays apart from SBT?
I find SBT not to have variety of the Legacy Wagon 2010 - Subaru.
For those with experience, which importer would have more variety?

Life is joy, death is peace, but the transition is very difficult.

mimi huona the main ones being sbt na beforward at least they seem to have some local presence.
lakini this legacy wagons seem to have very high millage, from most of the japan used car sites.

I believe the wagons are mostly used for long distance driving in those parts of world, so they tend to rack up more miles than the average city cars..
So, nothing to mean they're used up any more than their city counterparts. But I am not entirely sure.

Thanks for your input on the Import Site options.

Apart from a lil' bit of sweating & nail-biting ,I don't what else happens.

However, my wonder is, we are still in May 2017,why will the car arrive in January 2018?

NO no, its not that I am importing now and expecting to received in Jan 2018. I am aware of shipping schedules, have imported cars from Japan before.
This was a hypothetical qstn for those who would want to import later in the year, and then it lands in the next year when it is time-barred - do they like give an allowance of say 3 months in such cases?

it wont be allowed it. shall be in breach of the 8 years rule. they consider the date it arrives in kenya not the date of purchase.

I think they may consider when it got shipped out/when the vessel left port of departure.
If it takes like 3 months to arrive due to vessel breakdown or transshipment issues, they may waive all the penalties.
But I guess one would need a lot of paperwork.

Anyone with experience with any of these Japanese car dealers: Be Forward, Papera and IBC?
I have brought in several cars through SBT, but have no experience with these other 3.
I find Be Forward to be very cheap, are the cars good quality?

Indeed, Beforward have cheap cars most of the time especially non Toyotas. I have bought 3 cars from them and they were generally ok. Shipping was abit slow though.

Tradecarview is not an exporter per se..its a portal for exporters to advertise themselves..that's my understanding..

Hi Takeshi,
I am with JPCTRADE. You are welcome to register online. After registering, you can have a look and we will assist you in answering any questions you may have. Thank you.

On your comment, I have been looking at some cars on auction at JPCTRADE and analysing what the auction sheet says. I'm finding some discrepancy. The comment behind the score reflected in the auction sheet does not harmonize with the actual mileage reflected on the same. I'm using the provided tips to make this conclusion. I've seen this over several cars and models. Why is that?
