How would the politics of Kenya change?

How would his public appeal change?
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

akin to imagining the death of the president in the 80s. bigger question is whether nakumatt prestige and uchumi hyper will remain intact if he loses in 2012.

If I were Raila, I would read (re-read) 'The Prince'(Machiavelli) and 'Art of War' (Sun Tzu) and other strategic, real or fictional works and having done so:

1. Withdraw from top race 2012
2. Support a Musalia/Kalonzo ticket (some docile twosome who maybe agreeable nationally)
3. Fill senate with cronies
4. Engineer a senatorial impeachment on Musalia after year 1.
5. Stage a come-back citing, 'our coalition days' blah blah...

Otherwise, 2012 is going to be Raila against all like it was Moi/Uhuru against all (Narc) in 2002, or Kaunda against MDC in Zambia 90's.

Because of the head start he has, bet the rest will gang against him in a massive way, including AU, US Republicans and China but excluding EU.

So, RAO, why risk to fail in the mother of all battles, while waiting just 1 year will get you there?

By the way - may I join your strategy team pro bono? These opinion polls are sweet in the mouth but bitter in the stomach, they are bent against you, in the long haul, sir.

Then Kenya will be like all the other countries in world that don't have Raila!!!

What's up with Kenyans and their fixation on individuals. You can ship all political leaders - past and present to North pole and Kenya will still be here. Let's decolonize our minds.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

This cant happen. Raila will obviously run in 2012....daaaaaaah! The guy is so smitten with power yaani, and the opinion polls keep pampering his ego yaani, he will, as sure as the sun shall rise kesho in Tasmania, run for 2012. Perhaps the question should be Will Raila be President of Kenya unless Uhuru is his running mate??

A situation of Raila not vying is a miracle. This chance is better than 07 by far.If he keeps momentum,he could get 55pc...Only something divine can stop him now

2002 election was driven by change.NARC told us all we needed was to remove Kanu.KANU on the other hand told us that all we needed was young leadership.2007 was driven by anti-kikuyuism.2012 looks increasingly centred on one man,Raila. If he doesnt run, there would be a major political realignment.I would expect the political atmosphere to change. If this man doesnt win in 2012,it will be purely because God has rejected him not political scheming by opponents
