am proud to be affiliated to smart tv, an upcoming pay tv company in kenya. their product and services seem to be very affordable to almost all the kenyans. 1, decoder cost only ksh 7500 (no installation) 2, subscription only ksh 990 p.m
i've got one, get one too and enjoy with me.

TUPAC wrote:what is the coverage?what channels are on offer? what kind of decoder does one need? hi tupac? currently it covers nairobi but as time goes by it will cover the whole country since KBC is in the process of intalling its digital hardwares within the country before 2012. Smart tv has its own decorder called the smart tv, its digitaly inbuilt thus tarnsmissions are digital, it costs 7500 payable in cash or cheque, the channels on offer in the residendial package called the SMART ZONE include: BBC World, Setanta Africa, ASPN (africa sports network), Silver, Star, Hi Nolly, Fox entertainement and Showtime going for 990 p.m but there will be a three month offer (free watching) when subscription starts, all local channels are free to air and can be watched even if your account is suspended, am ben and my number is 0724378253 or mail benonyach@gmail.com to get more details. thanks and be blessed

Saw a sign for Smart TV somewhere near Nairobi Club and went to check on their website but the link for Kenya was not working. Any idea Jakogelo when that will be working? And on your decoders if I bought and change my mind can I use a different company's smart card instead of yours? And where do we buy these decoders from? is it plug & play since there's no installation? does it require a dish? A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend. A successful woman is one who can find such a man

@K22 it looks like it's running on DTT (Digital Terrestrial TV) so all you will need is an outdoor aerial. Their coverage is only in Nairobi for now I believe. In a place where thought is abandoned, freedom can become a curse.

@jokalego, many thanks for the mail. But 990/- for 8 channels can't compete with the basic offering by DSTV.

K22 wrote:And where do we buy these decoders from? is it plug & play since there's no installation? does it require a dish? @K22, Grolut is right, it operates on DTT (digital terrestrial transmission) thus no dish, just need to tune your aerial to take the KBC signals, if u need one call me on 0724378253 or mail benonyach@gmail.com, i'll show you how to get one. @gordon, in my view i dont think the channels are few for 990, these are jst introductory channels, they are bound to increase as time goes by on the constant 990, this is 33/= per day, on top you get to watch all the free to air channels. can u watch all the 8 channels or thereabout? i guess so, therefore value for money is guaranteed.

@Jakogelo I saw in one of the Dailies yesterday that some decoders belonging to Smart TV have been stolen. Are yours legit? That aside can the decoders record live TV. Like do they have PVR capability? If not do you supply ones that do? He who can express in words the ardour of his love, has but little love to express. - Petrach, Son. These are just set top boxes to convert analogue signal to digital signal. Refer to 'Nation' Page 18 of yesterday (Thursday 23rd). By the way with DSTV you dont need a set top box. "Never regret, if its good, its wonderful. If its bad, its experience."

I have three decoders already. I am not ready for another one. I wish your service provider could sell the smart card for use with other top set boxes

By the way with DSTV you don't need a set top box. @tebes, fine they are top set boxes but on top it has the pay channels it's selling, thus is u have this decoder u will be able to subscribe for the pay channels affordablly and value for money guaranteed coz you subscribe to entertainment channels that you can watch.
