With a poor pre-season form and with goalkeeping and defensive frailties coupled with trophy hangover...chelsea seem headed for a defeat in the the community shield

You must be a prophet! Are you related to Paul the Octopus? smile
Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

Chelsea's defence was pathetic. It seems John Terry has not yet recovered from England's exit from the World cup. My player of the match was Michael Essien, what a performance from him.

I'm still not convinced on Hernandez....he has the skill and technique but not strong enough for the EPL. Good display by Berbatov hope this season he'll be consistent in his performance. Man U's Man of the match was Van Der Sar.

@ All...am not related to Paul the octopus but the loss was coming.

Man-u were hungry and showed very good defensive play prefering to have bodies behind the ball and channeling passes to valencia who kept on beating Ashley cole (the best left back in the world???) to swing in crosses. Credit to Valenica for the first two goals either supplying or scoring.

Chelsea's quick breaks upfield were futile as there was no-one(Drogba) to aim the crosses at in the first half. It seemed the more chelsea were looking for heading opportunities the more bodies Man-u had in the goal area.

I agree with @Taz, the defence was below pathetic. In the first goal Cole was caught out of position forcing Terry to challenge Rooney and Terry, Ashley and Hilario couldnt stop the cross coming in. In the second goal, I think Ivanovic should have stopped valencia's cross. Ivanoci swung and missed the ball only for chicarito to get the ball into the net (was that leg-chest-head shot?). In the third, I just dont know what Hilario was doing going to challenge barbetov.

So for chelsea...4 losses out of 4 preseason games. They should get their act together very fast before Someone (Ancelotti) losses their job!
