Aat this rate, western women will have no partners to marry.

One can look at it in two ways. Either the men from Mt. Kenya are losing to their Western counterparts or the women from Western anre no longer appealing to their own men....?

This story was on some newspaper [Monday 28th June 2010 - I think]. The story is simple. Men in central province are drinking TOO much - local brews and bottled Naivasha "wines" no less!! They've totally lost focus - which is something you'd expect of someone whose always drank by 9:00 am. Actually, they have a simple motto: Avoid hangovers, stay drank! Worse still, I'm made to understand that the brews are "anti-viagras" - apparently in some villages it would be a mini-miracle to see a baby.

How accurate is this story? Believe me it's very accurate. I have visited some villages in central Kenya and the situation is horrible!!

But having said that, is it really an issue that someone from western [or any other area] marries someone from central [or any other area]. Should we even be discussing this? This is Kenya. Marry the person you fancy. Heck, marry from China or wherever - if that is where you've found love.

What we should be discussing is the alcoholism problem in Central province and Kenya as a whole. This other manenos should just serve as evidence of the existence of the problem - nothing more!

Not meaning to attack anyone, but I agree with Magigi. The men from western Kenya have been known to be very good in bed. Which woman would not want to try out and prove how true this theory is?

i ain't a tribalist, but its a known fact bagging a yellow yellow is considered as the ultimate prize to some 'communities'.

Back to the subject at hand; my friend from Kirinyaga married a Taita lady. When my mum heard about it she asked with a lot of concern on her face: "kwani alikosa msichana kutoka hapa kwetu? Au mukamba?"

But @Pondi, i think its misinformed to think that the mountain women marry men from western for money. Those married in my family arent necessarily married by rich men... i think the circumstances in which they meet makes it difficult for a poor man from western to meet a poor woman from central... Most of these couples happen in towns where they are working... and generally, majority of those who have gone to school work have a higher propensity to save and invest hence grow their earnings... The other reason is really to do with how the western guys treat their women and i think this is the major reason...

Note, am not saying all men in central treat their women bad... not at all...
