It is a fresh round of tears and pain for developers who have built on airport land with property worth billions set for demolition.
An estimated 50 warehouses will be pulled down before October 28 when direct flights from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to New York commence.
Undeveloped plots will also be restored to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).

This was anticipated.. Its a very risky route for the USA

Rather than pumping in more cash into the moribund "Kenya Airways Plc" the designation of KQ should be transferred to a "New KQ" immediately.

All sensible contracts, routes, agreements and necessary employees should move to "New KQ" while the unwanted liabilities and employees stay at "Old KQ"...

"New KQ" would be owned by the creditors but it can rise like a phoenix over the next few years without the baggage of the "Old KQ" tying it down.

KQLC should take a haircut and GoK should make good on its guarantees to KQLC.

NOT AN EASY DECISION TO MAKE.

Good luck!

Or just spin-off JamboJet and make it the national carrier with leased assets. Leave the creditors to scavenge KQ. Sometimes painful decisions have to be made.

Meanwhile KQ should support KK by buying fuel from KK. In cash.

I was at the stadium my friend.. Now headed to Kakamega New Referral. The decision to dismiss was made last week on Tuesday when the rumor first floated.. Anyone who doesn't show up for work on the inaugural flight day, without good and just cause, is summarily dismissed. Simple

How can you call a route connecting east africa's financial hub to the worlds financial centre a mistake?

Competition & preferences - will KQ manage. Let us wait & see, time tells all.

The issue is not the hullabaloo / celebrations about the flight(s)...Rem we used to get dreamliners every Saturday for almost 8 months...How did that turn out.... After the first 2 flights its back to some serious issues about the route profitability....
