@arresteddev remember USA will up KQ annual revenue by over 10%.. That's KES 10B of new revenue per annum.. KES 2.9B loss after tax is acceptable given the McKinsey, Seagull, and Bowman payouts. Inside the plane, not buying more but won't sell myself short

After the 4bn loss, is KQ back to Negative Equity?

KQ is a consumer of capital where the majority and minority shareholders cannot be aligned. GOK blindly bought into Thatchernomics in privitising the National Carrier.

@obiero KQ just posted one of it's best performance in terms of plane utilisation with cabin factors at 75.9% and yet still posted an operating loss...it looks like they're now competing on Price...the question is what is KQ Break even cabin factors now? I highly doubt they will hit 85% even with U.S. Flight....

My take is that the operational costs ate into all the gains.. Fairly acceptable results for a turnaround entity

Negative Equity of 4bn including the mandatory convertible note. Which fools (except GoK) will put more money voluntarily into KQ as "ordinary shares"? Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

Wewe tutakurudisha shule.. KQLC signed up a guarantee backed by GoK for additional lending as and when needed. Nothing to do with the MCN

Kq needs to quicken growth of revenue to double digits or abt 8-9% not the 3.1% we saw in HY2018.

1) Loans not Equity.
2) Mandatory not voluntarily.

Some of the smart "foreign" banks stayed away from KQ. I wonder if local banks were forced to lend to KQ.

Yes but it will take time. Initially JFK will lead to higher operating costs i.e. loss making route until breakeven/ scale down if passengers numbers does not pick up.

This route is also dependent on other new routes.

However, under Mikosz leadership you can see highlights that can shift the tide to propel the KQ flight to a safe landing in the black (profit zone)e.g. cheaper and easy available parts and maintenance contract with Boeing, new menu, new routes, new codeshare agreements, savings if the engineers are finally shown the door and many more which could not have been possible under Ngunze.

@maka, can you confirm that the suspended engineers will be finally terminated after the recent court of appeal ruling?
