Kq now is in safe hands.

@vvs
Safaricom success is attributed to government support and the fact that it was a state Corporation till 2008.
There were very many favours they got during that period.

Safaricom took off under MJ, who was seconded by Vodafone, which had operational control of Safaricom. The then Telkom, 100% owned and controlled by GoK, with lots more assets than Safaricom was raped by friends of dan the thief.

I hope MJ can revive KQ with help from SM.

Help from SM and GoK.

GoK has aided KQ massively in the past few years

Here's my two cents via an exchange bar discussion this evening.. KES 21 = KES 5.25 pre restructuring.. Majority of KQ heavy trades took place during the 2012 rights issue @ KES 56 = KES 14 pre restructuring.. The Open Offer has been guaranteed in writing to exclude KQLC, KQ ESOP as well as KLM and at a price lower than that offered to the stated group of majority shareholders at consolidation.. Implying Open Offer pricing shall be below KES 8.52.. Meanwhile, no selling will occur by existing shareholders upon Open Offer circularization leading to a price spike

@Obiero you have balls of steel.

Confirmed. New average buy price KES 24.2

I told @wazua the kahoonas were sighted last week boarding the KQ counter. Market makers have taken up positions in the build up to the Open Offer which remains the biggest bet that I have ever tied my trading action to at the NSE.. The exchange bar itself said I have too much unfounded hope for the airline considering its loss history. Nonetheless, I hope that the Open Offer ratio and pricing works for me and the other true KQ shareholders. Still personally 44% underwater from the vital and most welcome restructuring actions but I know with 100% certainty that take-off is imminent. The volume and price action are telling a deep story only understandable by KQ insiders. HODL!!!

Lol.. I bet your neighborhood kiosk has similar revenue to Kurwitu ๐Ÿ˜ Once the engines are fully fired up, KQ annual PBT shall not be less than KES 7B.. This should happen in less than two years time especially considering the 15% revenue bump anticipated from USA and SE Asia. The writing is on the wall. Well, please ask KQ to repay their loans to Equity and I&M once the cash starts rolling in!
And start buying fuel from KK.
And ask their insurer to reinsure with KenRe.
Buy their tea from Williamson/Kapchorua.

What does it mean sir? If JKIA is already approved for direct flights what does under review mean?

It's very disappointing that KQ management actually released the full year results with no mention of the Open Offer.. Totally insane

Had also expected some info on the open Offer to be availed...

But apparently nobody cares about the minority, they can go hang, if they so wish ....!
Minorities own 5%(?) of KQ. Why should the 95% care?

One because it's human to care.. Two, they took our shares and diluted us down to the 5%.. It's our right to obtain the Open Offer so as to retain a semblance of proportion in shareholding
You are lucky to have been diluted to 5% vs KQ put into bankruptcy.

KQ in its current shareholding structure can never go broke

@Fyatu what was your decision based on the full year results. My take is that KQ is a definite buy in its current state. Too many positives are happening to the company at one go, and it will be no surprise to see a profit in H1 2018

Losing 7Bn AFTER the loan restructuring?

The restructuring became effective in the last quarter of the revised accounting period for KQ so all effects will carry over to Q1 JAN-MAR 2018 going forward

I thought KQ Q1 was April-June

It was changed at the last AGM

If the agm was on 30th August 2017, then doesn't it mean the earliest any changes to the accounts quarters can be seen is 2019?

It's possible to break the quarters and end the cycle as at 31.12.2017

In such a case, what happens to the half year July - December ?

It can be declared an overlap with adequate notes on the reason behind the changes. The following paragraphs are taken from the IAS Plus summary of IAS 1

Comparative Information

IAS 1 requires that comparative information shall be disclosed in respect of the previous period for all amounts reported in the financial statements, both face of financial statements and notes, unless another Standard requires otherwise. [IAS 1.36]

If comparative amounts are changed or reclassified, various disclosures are required. [IAS 1.38]

Reporting Period

There is a presumption that financial statements will be prepared at least annually. If the annual reporting period changes and financial statements are prepared for a different period, the enterprise must disclose the reason for the change and a warning about problems of comparability. [IAS 1.49]

either acrobatics or contortionist or musketry related words would not miss in describing veracity and velocity of positions taken by you @obiero on this counter. But for sure your ribs and deep pockets won't escape unscathed men.

How did I miss note of this punch. You know I always go punch for punch.. Well, the full year closed off as declared with final skeletons put to rest. KQ is reborn :)

@obiero continues to hold 80,000 KQ shares at ABP of KES 24.20. The Open Offer better bail me out of the 48% investment loss, underwater currents that are pushing me further from the shore. The current KQ share price is unbelievably low post-restructure.. Actually its currently trading at KES 3.10.. While GOK, KQLC and KLM hold their stake at entry level of KES 8.52.. Equilibrium will be achieved via the Open Offer which I am informed by the exchange bar shall likely be on a ratio of 3:1 with a striking price of KES 5. Assuming that I shall be able to defend my full allocation at KES 1,200,000 my revised ABP shall then be KES 9.80.. My biggest gamble in life so far

I am beginning to wonder if anyone but you really cares about KQ.
My interest in KQ's success lies in the hope that KQ will pay off its loans to my investees e.g. I&M, Equity, NIC, etc AND that KQLC can dispose of the KQ shares so my investees can close the chapter on a poor decision made to lend to KQ.
