One post per KES 10,000,000 of losses!

[The value of KQ has decreased by KES 90bn since 2012. This includes the "P&L losses" as well as balance sheet losses.

KQ owned land at historic cost in 2012 that was revalued and sold. These profits/gains were used to reduce P&L losses. The same with the LHR slots.]

The (real) NAV value of KQ in 2011-12 was much higher than Market Capitalization but today it's the opposite.

The best route for KQ would have been to transfer viable assets from the Old KQ to the New KQ under a restructuring process. The staff should have been asked to re-apply with the New KQ [sans the liabilities].

While the creditors pummeled and negotiated with the Old KQ, the New KQ could have taken off without the need for lengthy and convoluted negotiations. The New KQ could have listed and looked for strategic partners.

It's a model that should be used to revive (or bury) many parastatals (or entities in which GoK has significant influence) including Mumias.

What KQ board and management are currently doing via delay of the Open Offer must be the most unprofessional thing they have ever had to do.. Virtually no trading for the past two months? Of what benefit is it?

KQLC have no hand in it. They already signed an agreement of non participation in the Open Offer. It's the KQ board and management that are dragging their feet for reasons yet to be disclosed

I will chill.. But I believe that locals form the majority of minority shareholders and with the completed restructuring it's unlikely that the Open Offer shall fail.. Highly unlikely unless the ratio is anything less than 3 new shares for each share held and a price above KES 6

@maka the ESOP is better for the company as a reward scheme since if we look at it without emotions buddy passes were even used by non performers

Banks always have provisions for bad debts. This is an important thing to remember here because the share price will not depend on any fundamentals in the near term, it will depend on how banks choose to deal with their shares.

A decision to cut losses and get whatever cash they can will will lead to a massive selloff that will drive down share price.

Banks need cash and they are in the business of selling debts every day not sitting and waiting for shares to appreciate. I bet some bankers would be willing to take 50% or less of what they put in if they could get the cash today rather than wait 5 years and hope to recover the whole amount. As soon as serious buyers show up this price will tank precipitously. I hope I am wrong but a steep drop is coming. I am calling a sub 5/= by end of January 2018.

Remember that the banks do not hold the shares as banks but via KQ Lenders Co Ltd with Dr Martin Oduor as the chosen bank representative.. The said company is run by directors via resolutions.. I would love to see any resolution to sell KQ stock at KES 5 while they bought at KES 8.52.. Further the main banks can opt to buy out the leaner ones to stabilize the price.. These are not sheepish shareholders with no clue of what they are doing.. January is not far.. We await your prophesy to materialize
