There was a story in the newspapers about stamp duty being abolished in the coming budget. I very much welcome such a move. Is this going to happen? I see buyers holding till June to make a purchase in order to enjoy this new benefit. 4% of a property value is a lot of money. This will also remove the process of valuation from the lands offixce meaning registration will be quicker. This will be good for news home owners and it will also increase affordability.

If it is removed, the effective date will probably be Jan 2011. Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.
