After 4 months my wife got tired of staying at home and with still 8 months to go on her maternity leave she decided to get a job locally to keep her busy.She got a job in a small firm in town paying her 30k and boy does she come with stories.

Yesterday we went to Southern Comfort in Karen for a sundowner as my wife "updates" me bout the office.You would be surprised at how much drama this small offices carry.Jana somebody stole 200 kshs from a purse of a colleague when she was in the washroom,The secretary is sleeping with the boss that's why she has changed her wardrobe,I drop and pick my wife everyday now that has become an issue "we also have husbands" someone barked it goes on and on..

Now next to us was a group of 5 old men, moneyed i must say..they were lamenting about their children.
In Kikuyu -1st old man "My son went out and pulled out a gun and shot in the air and was arrested".
2nd old man- "Is he the one that crashed your cruiser"
1st old man- yes yes that one.
3rd old man - you should let him stay there for a week and learn his lesson"
1st old man - the mother is pestering me all night i can't even sleep.
4th old man - your son is very proud he should stay there.
2nd old man - I heard mr x's son is marrying
5th old man- really is that even possible.
1st old man - i find him very foolish, did he finish his degree in Russia.
3rd old man - no no ..they took him to South Africa.
1st old man - i hear he got himself a white one

My point to this is that we are all just a bunch of gossipers, it's no longer the domain of women, i guess men have taken over the mantle.

The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

what i get amazed at is just how everybody thinks they are clever, & no one ever thinks of himself as a fool.
Sample the comments you are likely to overhear in mats, passing strangers, or other public as they talk to their colleagues:

* Man to another: He thought I am a fool but I will show him am
not...

* Woman to another: But am a clever woman, wait she will see...

* Boss to employee:...We are not as stupid as you think we are, and
we knew all along what u were upto

* Woman to a man: Ha, she thought I would go with her, but mimi si
mjinga..I know her! She's evil!

ad nauseam!

@Digitek1
Depends on the jurisdiction...

The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

@ric dees

Spot on especially of the men.

In our office, it is common knowledge that all the rumors that do the rounds originate from men. Learned, elegant, high-flier men....... and most of the rumors are baseless. Qualified and Certified gossips! Fortunately, kenyan men have a "good" name coz they are hardly involved in gossip.

What do you expect of men who pierce their genitals (where I have no idea!). They have also become sockets ( remember the story of socketings and pluggings in the good SK!)

Gossip is any idle talk or rumour, how are we supposed to survive without it?

Gossip we must... What would the world be without these alternative info channels? And have you noticed that the biggest gossips in the office have most friends. He/she will be your best friend untill they start peddling scandalous stories about you.
Life is short. Live passionately.
