Hi SKerians
Am in a fix. I have been shortlisted to join the millitary as a Cadet. The interviews are set to begin on monday. I hear the recruitment process takes upto two weeks. That is where the catch is. How do i get permission for a two weeks absence from the office. This is my 6th month where i work and i dont even qualify for annual leave. I need a softer landing back in case a will not be suceessful.

Do you have someone in the management that you can talk to and will not judge you on your prospects. I suggest you talk to them and let them advise you on how best to go. I once had an interview and thought it would make my superviser fume, only to learn that the supervisor is always welcome on such things. You might find out that if you explain your situation to the HR,they'll allow you the two weeks.

Thanks akowally.
The problem is that this is a small firm. There are two managers who are essentially
Side kick's of the director. There is no HR. I think at some point i,ll have to tell the boss and hear his opinion on it,and pray for the best.

What do u earn over there? Assess the risk, talk to the boss bt go 4it no matter what, life itself is a risk. Some advice though, the selection process aint a picnic, just a pointer to what u will encounter in KMA. Btw this is one of those very rare jobs in this country.Fm me its go go go.

The only reason why some people are still alive is coz its illegal to shoot them!!

hey friend you are at crossroad and i feel you....

take time and pray and surely you will sail through...

think of all possibilities and assess the risks like @ akowally said...

at times you get to fake sickness and pray God to forgive you....

all the same, your responsibilities will dictate the way forward....

you've heard me..

tell your boss you have severe case of diarrhoea. it works perfectly for me,it will work nicely for you. bosses don't ask maswali mengi regarding that topic. he will just tell you....kijana rudi ukipona!

i can imagine your worries..

my sis was in the same position some time ago.....

she explained her case to her boss....and fortunately for her...they gave her their blessings...

she now holds a high rank in the armed forces....

cadet training is not easy....but you can manage if that is what you really want....

i wld advise you to do the same....and reach for your dreams....

wish you the very best...

don't worry....be happy
