I just saw a trade at 27.75 for KQ. It seems that things might be looking up again. I am sure KQ will benefit from some hedge gains if the crude oil prices remain at the 80-ish level.

I plan to fly on KQ soon but has anybody been on KQ recently?

How are the passenger loads (as in how full are the flights)?

Please tell us which flight & when.

Thank you!

flied in the recent past on their west african routes and their flights are fully booked same as the southern african routes (especially during the weekends). with world cup coming next year KQ is expected to have record bookings and the turn around will be in the coming in a year's time.

I've been trying to buy into this counter but the inefficient CFCStanbic financial services have let me down. They are now taking more than a week to upload credit to my account and by then, the share price has jumped a few shillings up. I added more credit on sat(7th Nov) and by today(13th Nov) 3pm,they haven't uploaded the credit to my account yet. They used to be so efficient before merging with Stanbic and it's evident who is the inefficient party here. Anyone experiencing the same?

KQ has been entering into wet leases to manage passenger loads & aircraft shortages. I do not have full details but that means they are filling up the planes. That said... it's better to have your own plane if you need it longer-term.

you definately would be a bagholder for life if u bought KQ at 50.you are all ignoring all the news on this company's financials and oil hedges.KQ is only a buy under 19bucks and for a trade(not investment).

KQ is likely to rise as it is undervalued at its current price but I don’t think it can go beyond 40 bob in next 1 year or so. The world economy is still struggling and consolidations are starting to be seen in the airline industry (e.g. BA - Iberia) and these will impact on competitiveness especially in regions covered by KLM-KQ which are also covered by BA. Also the oil prices remain high and KQ's hedge appear too ineffective.

@mturi - My comments below are about profits NOT share price...
* World economy is improving coz of 'looser' credit thus folks can borrow again. Just not as much. KQ should benefit since Africa(ns) are not that leveraged though lower remittances will hurt.
** Consolidation was overdue. What happened was that anti-trust regulations forced the different airlines to stay separate. BA & Iberia have had talks in the past but now the reasons are more compelling. The 'anti-trust' cops have little choice coz their intransigence might kill BA or Iberia (or make them much smaller). Politically that does not fly with UK or Spain.
*** Oil prices are 'high' but affordable... some airlines will close up shop. That leaves fewer airlines. Fewer passengers. Maybe better margins. KQ has newer planes thus lower direct operating/fuel costs per passenger.
**** Hedging did not work in 2008. Unless you know the details of KQ's FORWARD hedges... how do you know they are ineffective? [Ans: You do not. If you know where oil prices will be... then you can make millions/billions...]

Well... I do not know about 50/- but KQ is on its way to 30/-. I wish we had more information but KQ does not produce quarterly results. Oil at $76 definitely adds to more 'profits' (or lower cash losses from hedges)...
