Its the 1.5L Toyota platz(echo)...ugly duckling cartoonish design with superior fuel economy in real driving environment than a vitz.It had one of the the lowest mechanical complaints as reported in www.consumerreports.org...I dont know how well it does on kenyan roads but my vitz is super reliable.
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

@sheep and @hello - poster wants to know about RELIABILITY. Not running costs and consumption. You cannot call a Vitz reliable (yet) if its only been on the road for so long. In which case even a new daewoo/hyundai/tata/mahindra is also reliable in that sense and will run for 3 years without issues.

I'd say the most RELIABLE car EVER is a Toyota Hilux (pick up,double cab, etc). Next Datsun 1200. These are hard to kill and will go forever even with poor maintenance. Also landrover old type or 110 - we still see them on the roads 40-50 years later. Good value for money and VERY high resale value. I'd also want to include Peugeot 504 but I am biased in that regard and cannot really be objective smile

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

Reliability of a car is dependent on what you are looking the car for. So first identify your car needs and budget then ask the question

on this one il have to concur with djinn.A landrover 110 is the most reliable one,get a clean one n u wunt regret. But the most reliable car of all time is the toyota AE100,survey carried out by more than 100 top motor enthusiasts n journalists.
