Once again, matusi is your main pursuit. Not mine. That and posting pictures of Kitengela. I don't remember any meaningful contributions from you.

Think deeply Drool
If Konza Technopolis is "the head" of Kenya's future,
Who do you think are its arms, heart, chest and torso, given Nairobi is it's legs?
New Runda of courseDrool
- The commuter railway to Konza runs through it
-The "Athi River" --more like Kitengela-- SGR station is located in it
- Everybody who works at Konza will live and/or come shop in it - nearest Quickmart, Naivas, Chicken Inn and so on are all in Kitengela
- Its unlimited hinterland will quickly merge into Konza just like Minneapolis merged with St Paul decades agoDrool Kitengela has not even achieved .01% of its 100% potential yetDrool

South Korea Backs Konza City With Ksh686M Grant

The funds will be disbursed in three annual tranches of $2 million (Ksh228.62 million) each

By
MARTIN SIELE -
Mar 18, 2022

South Korea’s government has backed Konza City with a $6 million (Ksh686.86 million) grant for the project.

The funds will support the development of transport infrastructure, planning and security installations at Konza City. They will be disbursed in three annual tranches of $2 million (Ksh228.62 million) each.

Particular projects expenditure will focus on include construction of smart parking facilities, digital signage and electric vehicle infrastructure at Konza, the 5,000-acre city 13 years in the making nursing dreams of becoming the region’s innovation and technology hub.

Notably, South Korea and Kenya in April 2021 announced a partnership in which Seoul would contribute Ksh9.4 billion towards the establishment of the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and technology (KAIST) to be constructed at the Konza city.

The institution is modeled on South Korea’s own KAIST which offers specialized training in various technical fields.

“Furthermore, the consultations will result in formulation of strategies that meet Konza Technopolis’ unique conditions and support its growth into an innovation hub for Kenya and the rest of Africa,” he added.

The MoU includes agreements on policy consultation, joint research and expert meetings over the three-year period.

Konza City ranked third at the 2021 IASP Inspiring Solutions Programme

https://tech-ish.com/202...ng-solutions-programme/

Konza Technopolis was ranked third in the 2021 International Association of Science Parks (IASP) Inspiring Solutions Program meant to recognise excellence within science parks and areas of innovation management and give visibility to the best projects and initiatives.

IASP, which boasts of 350 members and 115,000 companies in 78 countries globally, selects the best top 10 solutions deployed by its members annually.

The 10 finalists are selected by an expert panel, before IASP members vote for the three winners, who are announced live at the IASP World Conference.

The Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) was recognized for establishing the Konza Innovation Ecosystem Initiative (KIEI), which brings together the Government, Academia, Private sector, and non-state actors to champion the Technopolis innovation agenda resulting in the creation of new enterprises.

A total of 20 new companies owned by the youth have been created and are now commercializing because of the KIEI approach. Further, 200 children between the age of 9 and 15 have been trained on innovation while over 1000 youth have been supported to develop new ventures.

KoTDA Chief Executive Officer, Eng. John Tanui – who is also the President of IASP Africa Division, has hailed the Award as a recognition of the KIEI’s role in nurturing an innovation culture in Kenya’s economy, terming it as a game changer in how the innovation ecosystem operates in Kenya.

“This initiative has addressed the gaps that were in the innovation ecosystem by ensuring there is co-ordination within the innovation ecosystem and providing a programme to innovators to channel their ideas and solutions to be able to turn them into start-ups.” Eng. Tanui said.

He added, “Through the programme, we’ve got impressive innovations on healthcare, logistics and quality work. This has created a model we can replicate across Africa and ensure that the partnerships we have established with various stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem continue to grow.”

Eng. Tanui spoke on the sidelines of the IASP’s International Board Meeting which was held in Malaga, Spain. The two-day Board meeting discussed the association’s future strategy and to outline the path for IASP to follow as we adjust to a post-pandemic world.

Due to financial and economic considerations. Schools take up a lot of land space in terms of physical infrastructure e.g classes, hostels, playgrounds, halls, teacher housing etc. Their revenues are dominated by fees charged to parents.

Typically, the Income and Expenditure Account of a School is as follows:

Revenues
1. School Fees xxx
2. Other service charges xxx

Expenses
1. Teachers' Salaries xxx
2. Operating expenses e.g. electricity, water, food xxx
3. Other activities eg Sports, exams xxx
4. Administrative costs xxx
5. Finance Costs xxx
6. Land xxx
7. Plant and Equipment xxx

It makes economic sense to locate price conscious schools in areas where land is cheap but relatively accessible to the target market.

The KCPE performance supports the hypothesis that Kitengela is a Middle Class neighborhood , not Upper Class like Runda.
Life is short. Live passionately.

You are actually supporting the point I've been making all along.

The same factors you mention that have led to top price conscious schools relocating to land-rich Kitengela, are the same factors that have drawn in not only just the sprawling middle classes of Kitengela (as you have brilliantly stated) but also the Kitengela upper middle classes and the upper classes who own most of the business such as OBC Mall smile.

Isitoshe, due to the incredibly high home-ownership ratio - highest in Nairobi metro given all things equal, Kitengela land is the cheapest of the satellites that matter as I've stated a zillion times - the middle classes are moving into the upper middle class category (Runda) due to rapid capital accumulation that accrues to those with NO LOANS.

This is not rocket science, mblathees.

Just visit the estos around OBC one of these fine days then come back and tell us that they are not turning into New Runda Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

Or was that guy in the OBC video insane for calling them "rich estates"smile ?

He has done his research and clearly he knows what he is talking about and why luxury restaurants like Charlie's have also seen the light two decades early.
