Bonus shares confirmed ndani! But as usual the system has not adjusted the average price. Keep your own records accurately.

Kenya Re's forward PE ratio is now probably less than 3. The price to book ratio is now similar to KPLC. Management issues seem resolved with appointment of new Chairman. Company has low debt and a risk averse management.

Remember last year's earnings were not necessarily representative of future earnings, and may be branded as a one-off, depending on the school of thought.

PE is factoring the bonus shares issued

Assume an arbitrary number of 5 as pre-bonus EPS.

when will the bonus shares be credited to CDSC accounts?

It should be on or about July 26, 2019, just as the cash dividend.

Almost 1 Billion new shares being added to the free float. Let's hope there is sufficient demand to deal with the profit takers.

That is if the existing shareholders who will be allocated the bonus shares decide to flood the market

If even 1% of the new free float comes on to the market the share price will probably go below 3 bob judging by the volumes traded since it went ex bonus.

The key here is to be liquid now and buy low. Same guys selling will be scrambling to get back in less than a year from now. Let it rain, and flood, with the new shares!

The floods are here; 3 bob beckons! Can't wait to scoop. Drool Drool

Consolidated Bank of Kenya on Thursday got a lifeline after Treasury announced it will bail out the lender to help repay holders of its Sh1.6 billion corporate bond due last month.

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE)-listed Kenya Re, which bought Consolidated Bank bonds worth Sh100 million, is among the highly exposed institutions.

Not that I want Kenya Re to lose a penny but 100mn is peanuts for Kenya Re. I highly doubt the payoff will come in 3 months. This will probably go on for at least 1 year!
Kenya Re should provide for it.

I think Kenya Re has a good risk management policy. It benefits from GOK protection hence has a duty to support GOK and other GOK institutions (hence huge govt paper investments). The fact that only 100m was invested in Conslidated Bank bonds is a good indication of a conservative approach.

There are also private individuals and institutions who subscribed to the bond.

"
It benefits from GOK protection hence has a duty to support GOK and other GOK institutions " which is why I also have reservations about KenyaRe. Anyway, when the bond was issued it did not seem Consolidated would be such bad shape. I still stand by my comment that KenyaRe should provide for it and when it is repaid then write it back. Conservative approach.
