So the people who envisioned devolution did not also envision any mechanisms for financial oversight?
That means if these Samburu county officials were stashing their money in overseas banks instead of building palatial homes, they would not have been caught?
And I am yet to see any public official in Kenya sentenced for corruption. Somebody please correct me.
Quote:EACC, in the list, says county officials registered companies and awarded themselves contracts worth over Ksh.700 million and were paid without delivering any services.

Every time graft is mentioned, I tend to think of Northern Kenya counties.
Like Turkana. Never been there but with their allocation that beats many more populous counties which have more enlightened citizens- one wonders how much of these funds are used for the benefit of the people
I could be wrong but isn't it easy to please people in Turkana than in say, Nakuru, Kakamega and Kiambu?
If Nanok drilled boreholes and water pans here and there, subsidized animal vaccines, won't the people be happy?
The Nakuru governor cannot have it that easy. With a high urban population ( Nakuru, Naivasha, Maai Mahiu towns & many smaller urban centres); plus an equally demanding rural population with need for roads, PIPED water, healthcare, bursaries, sewer system, lighting, garage collection...
Anyone knows how Turkana is faring?

Kidero stole over 20B. Obado has stolen over 2B and stashed cash in Australia and Hongkong. And they are still walking free.

Turkana is frozen in time. Not a single sign of 70B received in devolution funds. I bet all the cash was diverted elsewhere.

One would think graft cases are easy to prosecute. If money was paid and no services rendered, it ought to be open and shut case.
The sad issue is that I don't think Kidero needed to steal anything. Before he dove into politics, he was already making a fortune. I guess every public official feels an obligation to steal because every other public official is stealing. Its a rotten culture.

I hear the goverthug's bail has been set at kshs.100m or a bond of Ksh.150m + a surity of the same amount. I think the judiciary is slowly beginning to join other Kenyans.
BBI will solve it :)
