I don't think so. Kipevu 1 has a PPA until 2023. Olkaria V is has come in half, the other half in November 2019. One plant can not retire another one, they have separate tariffs, separate contracts. Early retirement is only possible if they pay off KenGen for the duration to PPA expiry

The thermals at the coast might be kept for a bit longer. Transmission losses from Olkaria to Coast are very high.

This is premature reporting. I think commercial and capacity tests for unit one was completed last week...Unit 2 tests are yet to begin. Lastly, this plant doesn't yet have money allocated for it in the current electricity tariffs..

This is all sensational reporting. The plant will reach longstop Full COD towards mid November...only 1'unit has been tested and commissioned. Each Unit is tested and commissioned separately,in sequence...before the plant as a whole is tested and commissioned....Anyway, When Olkaria V comes, it comes with costs...just like all beautiful girls, they come with High costs to the consumers
