My friends, how many of us have ever paid attention to the mental health laws we have in Kenya and their mechanics?
Well, I suspect that most of us have never studied these particular laws, and that few of us have the capacity to understand these laws, particularly because few have any serious interaction with mental illness to a level beyond the usual escapist stuff.
But ukweli wa mambo is that these laws are the cornerstone of the whole political system. Simply because we access the world through the mind, and laws regulating how we approach the mind are the laws that dictate how we view and relate with the world.
I've been working on these laws intensely in the last few days, and the result is shocking.
These are the most oppressive laws that I've ever seen or imagined.
There is an urgent need for us to have serious dialogue and run to the courts immediately to reverse the great damage happening without our notice.
