Ohuru should fire him ASAP. Rotich, as finance minister was hired to manage our money matters and we have ended up broke. He doesnt deserve another day in that office. Even in you company if your company goes broke you get a new finance manager.

Govt can't be broke it has no money of its own. It's the taxpayer who is broke and can't fund the big govt and its 'Pharonic' projects.

Jiringi 40b unaccounted for, and then its said GoK is broke, see the very simple connection my frens?

JP should be careful, it is now 'common knowledge' pple like Machozi are feathering their nests very aggressively. Imagine if this perception continues and rises in intensity, add to that the other concurrent matters of great public concern (grabbing of forests, drought, mounting no. of corruption cases, broken healthcare-for that is what all these KNH saga is all about, mismanaged curriculum roll-out, etc) and JP could face rising public anger irrespective of political divide...

This will never happen my friend. One thing Jubilee has done very well is to convince two entire communities that "we are in government". It doesn't matter whether you are talking to a university professor or a village drunkard. From Kericho to Nandi to Muranga to Kiambu, everyone believes the government is always right. Even here people like @harrydre, hardwood, muchknow, bigchick and others will always stand for and defend the government. Even if the economy collapsed and they lost their houses, jobs, savings, pension and they became destitute on the streets, they would still be singing serikali yetu. Witchcraft is real.

if ever govt is unable to meet obligation, this system of devolved govt (devolved corruption) will have to give way first b4 anything else.

Meanwhile county govts and governors are on a spending spree building mansions, helicopter rides, bonding trips abroad etc etc. That is why funds to the counties should be slashed.

Very true.

The problem with this government is that it has no ideas on how to enable creation of new businesses and how to grow existing businesses. The only companies that can do well in a country like Kenya are companies that have experienced and survived such conditions in other countries. It is almost impossible to start or run a successful business in Kenya. Period. County taxes you, government taxes you and everything you buy is taxed 16% yet no employer is able to run a profitable business. Ninkubaya my fren.

BBI will solve it

Are we pretending that we were in an election period where Kenya spent so much to massage egos?

What Rotich is doing is not necessarily a bad thing...he could have decided to print more money to fund all planned activities but that would be more catastrophic for the country. Expenditure reduction is good.... He needs to go further and put down legally specific austerity measures that will force government officers reduce wastage of resources.

For those on twitter, please look up a guy by the handle @surambaya.

He has summarized the OAG reports in a twitter thread. It is a painful thing to read. Its like there is a competition on who can steal more. And nobody bothers to cover up theft nowadays.

Shame on you Shame on you Rotich is sly. He's making such announcement afew days after bagging the second euro bond. My bet is if such statement was made before the bond issue the subscription would be very different.

Have actually read the report in full, and my lord, it hurts so much, and these are the people we have even died/killed for during elections so as to make our lives miserable.

There goes another precious 5 years wasted.
