Eveready ruling keeps away rivals

The High Court has retained orders that barred three firms from dealing in Eveready and Energizer batteries in East Africa.

The orders by Justice Said Chitembwe in Malindi stop Energizer International Inc, Energizer Middle East and Africa Ltd, and Eveready Battery Company USA from selling their brands within the territory of troubled Eveready East Africa.

....continues..

Kudos to the High Court for enforcing the law. Energizer international cannot be allowed to run roughshod over our local companies

What if EEA is starved of those same products by the losers of that case?

Energizer should be allowed to appoint quality distributors...

Did you forget that it declared a profit last financial year? How can a "dying" thing declare profits and special dividends?

Even after destroying EEA by bending the law and introducing skewed "terms" that would have completely bankrupted the firm to the benefit of the mother company? Hapaaaana! If the mother company cannot play fair, let them enjoy the restrictions of the high court which has been quite competent in assessing the merits of this case.

Unless anyone wants to re-invent the definition of profits, thank you for admitting the truth, that profits were declared. You don't see anyone saying Safaricom made a "loss" this year because its profits were made through unfair monopoly advantage and so they do not count! Let us compare notes when this FY's results are out, brother, and hopefully no one will cleverly try to re-define what a profit is at that point in time! smile

These are not profits but striping of assets which can't last forever. This financial year is a definite loss.

EEA should have seen the light as the market changed.
