Selfish 'leaders'

I can't mention them but there seems to be quite a number of personalities in Africa who fight for leadership positions yet they know they are terminally ill. One can say that they take advantage of their conditions to get sympathy votes. Many have succeeded and some later succumb to the disease. Others spend tonnes of time abroad seeking medical attention and at the same time they have left a power vacuum back at home. Why are us Africans that selfish? Why can't we just let able bodied brothers and sisters lead, as the sick us fight to bring our bodies back to normalcy?

In formal employment, they ask for medical checkup but for some strange reason we exempt our politicians. Medical fitness should be a requirement just like tax compliance. This should come complete with a certificate of sanity since some of our politicians seem to have questionable mental fitness (Muranga MCA's come to mind).

Even in formal employment they don't ask for the results of the medical check up requested for. It would be so easy to collude with a corrupt doctor and have him sign the required forms at a fee, of course

You should know that power is a drug even to the terminally ill. It consumes even the heathiest of these people to their graves.

Does this mean if one got HIV, or diabetes, or cancer which they can manage for the next 30yrs, then they should not run for office? Should "life" come to a stop when one gets a terminal illness?

They don't do this in the US either.
If they did Trump wouldn't be the president.
