It seems other countries have worse political problems than ours. I mean political problems that do not lead to civil-war or military coups. A case in point are Haitian elections. In 2010 they had more than 30 presidential candidates in the ballot. In 2015, they had 70! I imagine if that was to be our the case, I wonder how long the ballot paper would be! To make matters worse, the Haitian 2015 presidential election run-off hasn't been conducted to date and they were working with a provisional president till November last year when 27 candidate elections were held. That said, Haitian elections turnout are below 30%.

I would like get more of such examples.

Kenya is not at a good place.. Having fewer candidates doesn't mean that we are more progressive

One of the mind-shifts that hit me was the ballot paper in the limited preferential ballot in PNG. These guys have to vote for 3 people! There was an Election that had 61 candidates!! Guess how they do it? The create a huge ballot poster

and stick it in the voting booth - like this

then the ballot paper is a standard ballot paper with 3 slots

your number 1, your number 2 and your number 3! You can write their name or number.
These are ordered way in advance!! no reprinting when candidates die or are knocked out. the only thing reprinted is the ballot poster.

Candidates cast a lot and are awarded a 'box number' and they campaign with their 'box numbers'.

All my friends are heathens, take it slow. Wait for them to ask you who you know. Please don't make any sudden moves.

I absolutely love this. It is simple and elegant. I think some of the most practical solutions to problems come from the most unlikely of sources. I do not know but I can guess PNG does not have too many lawyers who are the people whose job is to complicate simple problems. This is simple and it makes sense to everyone. I also like the Gambia system.

Our Neighbour South Sudan is planning a general election next year and preparation are on high gear. One million plus people have left the country for refugee camps mostly in UG and KE. The former VP is under house arrest in
Zumaland. Chances are the incumbent will blow it with 99.99%.

Haiti is a beauty of a country, presidential term is only 4 years but can vie again after another president has served for 4 years. They did a presidential runoff and their new pres is MOISE, a banana farmer
