That would be a small problem if Sonko were always available. But he isn’t. One has to keep looking for him, calling him or sending messages on WhatsApp.
Work stops if he has not approved it. And this is his favourite reason for firing staff.
“You have seen some colleagues dismissed because of not working - and ‘not working’ is not even described. But he cannot admit he is the one delaying the processes,” Ouko said.
She said she was uncomfortable discussing Sonko’s management style, or rather lack of it, as this might be seen as washing her former boss’s dirty linen in public. “But somebody has to put a stop to this. Really, you cannot operate a county like that,” Ouko said.
“He will call you at 2am. If you don’t pick the call... the following morning he doesn’t pick your call because you did not pick his,” Ouko said.
Sonko rarely holds cabinet meetings and when he does, they are informal.
“The most irritating part is everyone is a suspect. Everybody is a thief. There is only one person who is not a thief and that is himself,” Ouko said.

The County Assembly is divided evenly between Her Excellency and The Honorable Women Representative. As a result, the vetting was remarkably contentious publicly but even more fiercely behind closed doors. Reliable sources have it that one third of the Executive fall under The Honorable Women Representative's influence too. The only reason that Her Excellency is well ahead of the curve is her brilliance when it comes to Bureaucracy and management.
This brilliance is pitted against The Honorable Women Representative's wealth that has connections to the Kanyotu billions. Personally, I like this kind of "opposition". It means that Her Excellency must really perform. Otherwise come 2022, she will be kicked out shades of Kidero/Sonko. In Kirinyaga, we live in interesting times. Her excellency will win the brains and looks department while Ngirichi will win the money and family department.Our society still frowns of divorcees and single parent ladies. Dated 21 November 2019 - 6:57 pm Never trust KRA. Last year they showered Sportpesa with similar accolades and a few months later, the latter was hounded out of business for tax payment non-compliance.
