The credibility of opinion polls is being questioned following a decisive win by Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu over Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, against pollsters’ predictions.

The two were competing for the gubernatorial seat during the Jubilee party nominations in Kiambu County on Tuesday. The MP garnered 353,604 votes against the incumbent’s 69,916.

The result comes barely three weeks after an opinion poll by Infotrack showed Mr Kabogo would get 48.9% of the votes against Mr Waititu’s 31.8%, if elections were to be held on April 7.

Pollsters-on-the-spot

BBI will solve it

In their defence, the elections were not held on April 7th. A day in politics is like a lifetime. Kiambu people know all the dirt on Kabogos' past negative utterances especially against women were dug, nicely compiled and widely circulated on media platforms just two days before the first nomination day.

You are definitely not from Kiambu. Kabogo was assumed to be indispensable just a few weeks ago!

Bro umenoa. When Babayao came to the scene, opinion was split down the middle. Towards the nominations, Kabogo had regained imensely, almost sealing his re-election when he exposed Gakuyo as a fraudster (Gakuyo is not a fraudster). 2 days to nominations, the mother of all bombshells was unleashed.....the Nyondo cia Ngui collection of expletives meted by Kabogo in the past. Gakuyo himself went to Kameme and reiterated the Nyondo cia Ngui story among other terrible utterances by Kabogo. MAny women in the rural areas are always on Kameme/inooro, thile the townfolk are on social media.

Boom! That is the Day Kabogo's fate was sealed.
