If you have a 4g sim card, same speeds I have never understood how mobile contracts work especially in the states, but I think they bundle sms, calls, phone payments in those charges. can someone from majuu confirm  The contracts are mainly to reducing financial burden when buying a new phone. Instead of laying down a whole $1,200 for a new phone, you can get a 2 year contract to spread out the payments in those two years and in turn you stay with the network for that period of time at least. If u leave earlier you have to pay for the remaining amount plus contract termination fee. The monthly phone payments are then added to your regular phone bill which usually comes in form of data, calls and sms bundled for a specific price. Just like Safaricom post paid option. If you go past your data limits you get charged extra. I think that's a basic explanation
