After a dismal perfomance by ethiopia now the silver medalist of the marathon risks being arrested if he returns after flashing the oromo defiance sign tayari his parents wako ndani. With the likes of ayana, dibaba and other top ethiopian runners being oromo we could be looking at another TZ if ethiopia gava decides to go hard on oromo runners

Kenya won more gold medals than the REST of Africa combined.
Great achievement.

This is in spite of of our corrupt, incompetent, joy riders so called officials. They should ALL be kicked out.

Well done to Kenya athletes . Shame to the "officials"

And the award for bravest Olympian goes to Feyisa Lilesa
Considering that the legendary Ethiopian marathoner was imprisoned for several years, this chap is brave

I hope his family back home is safe

He messed up big time. He could have won it if he positioned himself early, like Rudisha, then use the kick for the final sprint. But he wasted his kick by coming from the back late in the race. Sad

Hope he got his lesson. When's the next time that he'll be running? Diamond league? Want to see if he will adjust tactics.

These people should never be allowed around sports again. All of them. And I hope the list of joyriders is published.

Most of these joyriders haven't the slightest clue how hard an athlete needs to work to reach the level of an Olympic medalist. And all their work

Also I am glad the runners decided not to allow any officials to pose for photo ops with the medalists to take credit. Most gava officials including politicians and cabinet ministers are only good at posing for photos and taking credit. They play absolutely no role and most don't even have a clue about what it takes for an athlete to become good enough to win an Olympic medal or for a national team to win at anything. Yao ni photo ops tu.

Oh and IOC and IAAF know fully well the corruption that goes on within these organizations.

Kipchoge has lost credibility just by being associated with these thieves. He and the rest should step aside and make way for someone like Paul Tergat, Katherine Ndereba, John Moore Ohaga, .............

And if he really did participate in stealing tracksuits then he should be at Muthaiga police station answering questions from his fellow policemen.

Kenya should be participating in more games, not just athletics. That way we can greatly increase our medal count.

You need to care about sports to begin with! In order to make it as a general sporting nation you need to have facilities and a culture of children - lots of children playing these sports from a young age! Technically these sports do add anything substantial as compared to the amount of effort put in them! In country where this is a normality - we are climbing the tree from the top.

I dare say that we are actually punching way beyond our weight in sports right now... way beyond! If countries like Portugal have been in the games since 1912 and have a total haul of 4 gold medals in all those years - with a GDP 5 times our size. some sports are a product of a prosperous economy. India with it's 1 billion people and an economy the size of africa has a total of 9 medals in all olympic games where 8 were hockey and 1 is shooting. So let's climb hii kitu pole pole.

interesting stats - Out of 1,000,000 hopeful [American] football players in 2013, only ~250 end up making it into professional football! in one year

that is a huge economy! these people will make tonnes of money and we will be told that 'THERE IS MONEY IN AMERICAN FOOTBALL'!
