President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged people to take to the streets and stand up to the military during a coup

And sure enough, people have started gathering in the taksim square in Istanbul.

So Germany had declined Erdogan's asylum request. A US military colonel had been quoted speaking in favour of the coup.

And now after it appears headed for a fail, world leaders are all over condemning the coup.

Are you sure it will be written by victors or the supposedly cowards. I read somewhere in wazua that heros die as the cowards live to tell people tales of the heros ???

Now wait for leadership like a clamp preferable G-clamp. The Turks will be lead by an authoritative, leader since he will be paranoid of the next coup.reminds me of Gambian president called Yahya Jammeh

Coup d'etat failed - it had no popular support. Crowds actually took to the streets to confront the army.

Government officials said the coup appeared to have failed as Turks took to the streets overnight to confront troops attempting to take over the country..

In images broadcast on CNN-Turk, dozens of soldiers walked among tanks with their hand held up, surrendering to government forces on Istanbul's Bosporus Bridge. Discarded gear was strewn on the ground. People, some holding flags, climbed onto the tanks...
