“CMA Stops Cytonn Asset Managers Limited From Recruiting New Clients”

“CMA’s Director of Market Operations said short term investors are unable to get their cash back unless new investors come in.” (Aka the definition of a pyramid scheme)

“We have filed a criminal complaint with the Director of Public Prosecutions, accusing Cytonn of:
1. conducting business without a license and;
2. collecting money from the public using false pretence

What do you gain by slandering men and women who have mobilized investment funds of almost KShs 1B.

What have you done with you life so that we can celebrate you instead of wasting precious energy in hating others efforts?

To be fair to Dande... Cytonn sold a great vision. The market has not been kind to many developers and firms.
To be fair to @paulkimani - He has been warning Wazuans for quite a while. This thread is 5+ years old and some cracks were evident early on about the model.

I hope some solution is reached that benefits everyone. Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater.

The guys attacking PaulKimani should declare their conflict of interest. There's a lot of people crying about the money they lost at Cytonn.
PaulKimani has probably saved some Wazuans from being in the same predicament. For this he deserves a lot of kudos.
The guys attacking him are shameless. This is beyond attacking the messenger. It's trying to stifle a whistle blower with the hope that people won't figure out what's going on.
But we've all seen the tears of those hapless Kenyans who put money in Cytonn on TV including a widow who put all the money she got from her husband's insurance into Cytonn and has now fallen into depression.
If your pursuit of money has such an effect on society you deserve to be in prison.

Well I'm with @mv_ufanisi on this one.
Whose money has @paulkimani taken, who has he sued? Where are his videos explaining away why he has your money blaming Covid for everything?

If you don't speak out against these flagrant abuses of the financial system by smart people with dubious ethics, you further entrench the culture of anything goes as long as you make money in Kenya/Africa. Silence during a time of injustice is one of the worst forms of cowardice.

These Cytonn guys can have made money but I still remember how isolated Evans Kidero once looked at a Muthaiga Country Club function. You drive a Rolls Royce but spend lots of time in court rooms and the press. And you get very socially isolated.

The guys who make money the right way will not give you any respect despite all your money.

There are some things that money can't buy.

And there are some limits to making money.

Don't make money by making innocent Kenyans suffer after hoodwinking them with products that almost seem indistinguishable but carry hidden risks. And some of these people when they lose money get depressed or suicidal - who knows that a Cytonn 'investors' aka 'Cytonnaire' hasn't died as a result of this?

That's why Madoff got life behind bars.

Agree, the fundamentals of a thriving capital, business and financing environment is based on the virtues of trust, credibility and ethics. If we don't speak up when these virtues are violated, overtime, it will make is difficult for others to do business with us. The issues at Cytonn is setting back Kenya for years, it will make it very difficult for investors to trust another entity like Cytonn in future even if that entity is doing it the right way. Kenyans are short sighted.

Cytonn was like a religion, I tried to talk a friend out of it 4 years ago and did not make any progress. You have got to understand that those who have already invested need for the scheme to keep going for them to stand a good chance of getting out. Cytonn is only as good as more 'investors' join, if that stops everyone who is already in loses. Thats why the animosity towards paulkimani. He was jeopardising some peoples investment in Cytonn.

Love him, hate him, the guy is a fighter.

Copy and Paste:

Quote:
To build a community with comprehensive lifestyle amenities – where you are providing, not just shelter, but also open green spaces, elevated children’s playground, a commercial center, a gym, heated swimming pool, day care, etc, you need capital for large scale developments.

This capital is not available in regulated markets; hence we have turned to private markets. That is what we have done at The Alma, a Kshs. 5 billion comprehensive lifestyle development bringing 500 apartments to the market.

The Alma has primarily been financed by private markets, which CMA is attacking.

CMA has already made it hostile for developers to raise funds in the regulated markets.

There isn’t a single residential development I know that has been developed with CMA-regulated funds.

Having failed the President’s housing agenda in the regulated markets, they should not try to introduce their regulatory rigidity into the private markets.

Developments such as The Alma are solving the housing problems we face in Nairobi.

Since moving in in 2019, the residents have never known a dry tap.

We are building a sewer treatment plant, treating waste, and then building a 400m storm water drainage to dispose clean treated water.

You’d think a regulator would at best support or at worst keep off rather than kill a tax base, killing jobs and take us back to unplanned neighborhoods.

The current CEO, Mr. Shamiah, does not seem to understand housing, he ought to pave way for people who can develop policies that are in line with national priorities.

The guy has his own website to control the narrative. Too late the bad press has already spread like a nasty STD. No amount of spiel will get this train back on the tracks.
