Interesting read that the pope's visit to Kangemi has led to lots of developments in the area.

Pope’s visit elicits mixed reactions among Kangemi residents

Quote:

The Area County Assembly Member Peter Isuha said the Pope’s visit is all they needed for the area to get any development.

If only we (don't even know who I refer to as we) - were more aggressive and committed to improving lives, small basic things like unblocking drainage systems, providing lighting, basic paving of roads, having organized market places ...

Quality of life would improve to a great extent, but the pope has to visit for that to be started, sadly it will stop when he leaves.

The government should be reasonable climb down and declare a public holiday.
Nairobi contributes 60%of the country's taxes. The difference between declaring and not declaring a holiday is the same economicwise. Only employees will suffer trying to get to work. Stress nyingi little productivity

Its going to be a mess on the roads....kids in private schools have been given holidays for 2 days and companies are struggling to figure out how staff will get to work.

My fear in the visit is security.....i just don't know why but i hope our security agencies are on top alert. Hopefully, all ends well.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Consequences of ineptitude in unrelated sectors should not be pinned on visitors.

Sorry Kularaha, it didn't come out as I intended. I wanted to say that perceived losses due to a holiday should not be pinned on a visitor who was not involved in creating unfavourable conditions.

You mean someone in mbs, kisumu, nakuru, bondo etc will be sitting in traffic for 4 hrs coz of the pope? Why do nairobians feel so important, as if they are the centre of the universe?
