I consider the current teacher's pay crisis as a symptom of government failure in provision of public goods. For example, basic freedoms and rights are under assault.

Apparently, the technology domain is fast coming up with solutions that may not only be less costly but probably more effective in promoting citizen productivity. For example, schools taking advantage of the internet could have new and flexible architectures. Like now when schools are closed entrepreneurs could facilitate learning via TV and social networks . . .
Network science could provide insights and methods of teaching that are less formal but more pervasive and at the cost of all participants. No one would need to go on strike. Same would apply on health, security, and all other relevant sectors.
