[THE family of former Vice President Michael Wamalwa has travelled to London to bring back his “soul” in line with Bukusu traditions, 12 years since his death.

Wamalwa died at the Royal Free hospital on August 23, 2003, while undergoing treatment.

The tradition, commonly referred as “Khulotia” among the Bukusu community, involves relatives going to where someone died and slaughtering a ram.

This is allegedly to appease the spirits, which they say allow the relatives to carry the soul of the deceased.

Makes sense if we consider 'soul' as mind trail. Bringing the soul back may make its use legitimate to the heir(s) and the the whole community.

It's 'embedded' in the souls of the living and the cost of airlifting it is the cost of all who go to 'embed' it.

I saw on TV that it was transported in a small black box. The airline should have charged extra for transporting one more soul on the plane.
