The opposition 2nd in command leader arrested-apparently for calling Magufuli 'Dictator'
Quote:
Tanzanian opposition number two Tundu Lissu has been arrested, three days after having called President John Magufuli a "dictator", party sources said.
No reasons were given for the arrest of Lissu, a member of parliament, the Chadema opposition party chief whip and a leading lawyer.

Magufuli, whose nickname 'tingatinga' (bulldozer), swept to power in 2015, presenting himself as a no-nonsense, corruption-busting, man-of-the-people.
However critics see a wide authoritarian streak at the core of his populism. They argue he acts on impulse regardless of due process or political niceties, while being intolerant of any dissent.
Lissu spoke of a "climate of fear which reigns everywhere", accusing Magufuli of constructing "a system based on favouritism, tribalism and regionalism".
Opposition meetings are banned, newspapers have been shut down and journalists and artists have been threatened or received death threats for criticising the administration

I envision current DP in a cell on 9817. Surprises may yet come
I care!

That's a good move because Jomo grabbed land, Moi was a dictator, Kibaki a tribalist, Uhuruto corrupt

JPM ni mzuri kwa sababu wengine ni wabaya

Thirty-eight members of Tanzania's main opposition party, including two lawmakers, have been in custody for a week following local elections, their lawyer says.

MPs Susan Kiwanga and Peter Lijualikali, as well as 36 other members of the Chadema party, were arrested on November 29 in Morogoro, 200 kilometres west of Dar es Salaam.

They are charged with illegal assembly and damaging property, while the two MPs also face an extra charge of incitement to violence. All deny the charges.

This is what we want to see happening in kenya. Ohuru should learn from Phombe Makufuli. Or museveni. We want to see baba and his goons behind bars.
