Laughing out loudly, and the way I am proud of my mabati roof.
anyway, thatch or clay tiles would do for rain water harvesting - since we have been forbidden to suggest mabati.

Hahah. If may try to get you.
1. You want good roofing material that is long lasting.
2. You intend to harvest water from your roof.
Okay. is the roof on your house or ni ya zizi la ng'ombe? (which structure).
if a house, try ask architect the design and recommended pitch (angle) for max harvest. good luck.
