It baffles me the level of effort and other resources we expend to make sure our kids go to the right/best possible primary schools and high schools yet when it comes to universities and colleges some people think they are the same!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

@ UpcomingPaperChaser - If you can afford it, go to Strathmore. They are pricey but for MBA or business related courses you will get better quality there. Also consider USIU and Management University of Africa (Owned by KIM). Last time I checked, UON had very HUGE numbers in MBA classes. Not conducive at all especially for a masters class. And I am talking hundreds in one class. Check if this is still the case. KU, I'd rather not!

You can also get very nice Foreign Universities especially from Britain that offer distance learning. But you will need to be very disciplined! Some are 100% distance learning and even exams you do in Kenya. Some will require you to go the Mother University after every couple of months for a week or two. You can pick the one that suits your schedule and pocket.

And don't let anyone discourage you. Education is very important. Sio kila siku biachara, buroti na shares!!!

Hi Wazuans!

I have a degree in real estate and was thinking of furthering my education this coming May, either in The University of Nairobi of Kenyatta Uni. Am torn between choosing MBA or Msc. Finance . This is because MBA has some aspects of management in it while Finance tends to also have some aspect of management in it. Disregarding the costs, which one would seem better to undertake for a 25 year old employee focusing on the future and has plenty of free time despite being employed?

The rate at which my memory is fading, I wouldn't want to attend any class after 30 since i intend maybe to start a family at 33 or 34!

Allow me to share two things

1.MFin or MBA- MFin is a specialist course, goes deep into finance. You learn a lot about different aspects of it including financial modelling. MBA is more of a generalist course, you touch a little bit of everything in preparation for management or leadership or stewardship depending on how you look at it. So do you want to go deep(MFin) or wide (MBA)

2.School- Withut a doubt i second @Maich. Go to the best. In Kenya i believe Strathmore offers that quality and high standard you might desire. It is pricey but pay monkey, get monkey. I believe the networking opportunities that shall result from a strathmore class shall result in more solid career moves in comparison to UoN or KU plus you'll have a richer experience at the best school.

I say this having had the opportunity of studying at a good institution and a much better top notch institution.
