Do they plan to employe thousands more to achieve this....is it necessary or just another digital money minting machine?

Kutender!!!!

These could be a garage or a petrol station that is licensed by the government,” said Mr Muli.

Is this really a cost effective or appropriate way for ensuring road safety?

Is there an indirect policy to increase 'greasing' in this country cos clearly some measures being put in place are more effective in their 'unintended' outcomes than the intended ones!

I see so many junk matatus on the roads yet they go for the so called inspection, this is just another move to continue shafting the wananchi, nothing to do with safety!!!

This is laughable. So, the mataus that we see on the road that are practically falling apart have undergone this 'inspection' process? Does the government even have the capacity to conduct said inspections? Or perhaps as mentioned elsewhere, this is a way to rake in revenue through a private vehicle inspection company like JEVIC?

why can't the government work in collaboration with the insurance companies? Why must we pay twice for inspection of the same car?

I think we as citizens take too much lying down, very sad indeed.

I think this is a good move by GoK. In many countries all private vehicle over 3yrs old are inspected annually or biennially to conform to safety, road worthiness and emission standards. This will prevent dumping of non-compliant jalopies from japan, UK etc into Kenya. I sometimes see private cars that are nearly falling apart and some emitting very thick smoke. Inspections will lead to better environmental and human health. Less cancer and respiratory diseases.

Have you seen the 14 seaters plying Waiyaki Way? If they cant inspect those then nothing is worth inspecting.

I pay valuation every year before my car is insured, why cant the government use the insurance companies to incorporate in the additional checks/parts to be inspected and have the insurance companies issue the certificate of inspection and valuation? After all,its the insurance companies who stand to gain the most and I believe the insurance companies inspection will be way better than that nonsense that goes on in industrial area!
