There is this story in our gishagi about a chicken and her adopted goats.
So this chicken was born but there were no other chicken around. I guess they had been eaten or something. So it got to following the goats in the homestead. So everywhere they would go, the chicken would follow.
So everyone in the village wanted to call it a goat as it seemed to exhibit all the behaviors of the goats. It ate the grass, drank goat milk.
For years, everyone thought it had changed to a goat. But alas!
One day it laid an egg. Promptly it started exhibiting the behaviors of a chicken and even stopped moving around with the goats.
The old men in the village had only one explanation.
Just because it was hanging around with goats and pretending it was a goat, did not mean it was not a chicken. Sooner rather than later, it was bound to behave like a chicken.
