Pray How bitter can the sugar get.

These persistent prophesies of doom are getting a little bit out of hand, but still I shall keep my hopes up.

I was waiting for that news event and it has come to pass as expected that is the profit warning. While everyone is clamouring for the NSE pie this is a good hunting ground without crazy buying competition.

This thing will be at Sh. 2 tomorrow and looks like it might touch Sh 1 by Dec 2014 if nothing changes.

UMK sorted out Sony and Muhoroni on Monday. I think for good will for Western, gava might come in and give some support ..... bailout of sorts!

Probably it will be suspended when creditors close in. This looks like an Uchumi phenomenon coming. It won't take long.

That risk is probable as well as bankruptcy. And if happens then a bailout becomes likely.

This KSB finance is indeed competitive that COOP was back burned. Equally surprised that MSC had never before accessed this KSB float.

Sony Sugar Company will reduce the loan amount that the firm was to acquire from the Cooperative Bank following the advance of a cheaper loan from the sector regulator.

Cooperative Bank had approved a Sh500 million loan for the sugar miller last week, a move that coincided with the release of Sh447 from the Sugar Directorate. The bank was issuing the loan at 12 per cent interest while the loan from the sugar fund is charged at an interest of 5 per cent, to be repaid in a period of five years.

“We are going to reduce the amount that we had applied for and only take about Sh100 million from the bank in order to meet our daily operations,” said Ms Odhiambo.

How rich is Mumias sugar?- The land, the bottled water, the ethanol fuel, the co-generation plant, the sugar milling etc.
We have seen most Agri-business companies with acreage of land having their stocks go up. Now the infamous 3.0 Kenya Orchards has become smart and is trading at 20.0. Will Mumias take after Orchards?
Can we start growing sugarbeets for mumias if cane is hard to grow.
In UAE- (desert land) a 2 Kg sugar pack costs ~100-115 kes, while in KENYA an Agric country it costs 250-300 kes (3 times)Sad Sad d'oh! d'oh!

Well, from here we can tell that MSC is still ahead of the pack as others are being urged to follow suit;

[H.E UK] He then called on the companies to restructure their operations and diversify their production. “Do not depend on Government hand-outs but rather seek partnerships with other investors to diversify your activities in other areas such as ethanol and power production,” he told them. - See more at: http://www.the-star.co.k...ri#sthash.tv7I91EN.dpuf

We can't say much about sugar-beets right now so let's try subsidized fertilizer 1st to improve the farmers' & farms competitiveness, then in the long-run this -> Kenya signs pact for 15,000MT fertiliser plant http://www.capitalfm.co....000mt-fertiliser-plant/

1. GoK is the largest shareholder of MSC
2. Share price is market sentiment, not company value
3. Otolo seems to know where the leeches are, my only hope is that he has the political backing to carry out the surgery.

Injury Time: Omnibus measures.

1. Ministry seeks to cut cost of sugar production http://www.youtube.com/w...;feature=youtu.be&a

2. Millers raise alarm over underweight repackaged sugar

3. Probably this Joint tax deal to rein in EAC sugar cartels as pact takes effect will lead to this R76m Cigs seized

-END-

Oh yes, and hence, farmers 1st:

[Agric. CS] He added factories have been directed to pay farmers first before any other commitments through the farmers advanced scheme where for every sugarcane delivery, a farmer is to be paid a percentage of the overall fee.

“Whenever they sell the sugar they set aside the percentage equivalent to the cost of cane, Chemelil deposit that money into the farmers account at the rate of 50pc,” he said.

“Sony they are setting aside 37pc of sales every other time whether it is two bags whether it is a thousand bags whatever they receive day by day the money has to be channeled, this money will specifically be for farmers payment,” he said. http://www.capitalfm.co....d&utm_medium=twitter
