Why did forces move hell and earth to make sure a CS is not impeached...

It is not like there are no competent replacements or anything.

Laughing out loudly there's nothing difficult here. The tyranny in both houses makes it even simpler. If the motion passes the committee stage even linturi will vote against his own motion.
Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...
