Centum stock has not risen back to 85 after it won the battle for the coal Plant against Chinese company. More so Centum is flexing its muscle to wrestle the REA Vipingo Company from REA brothers who used a weak-cunning offering to entice people.
I can see the case through by May latest.
The coal plant business has started and I can see in very near future Centum going two fold up (Roughly 125) as Investors put more interest as more partners chip in to have a pie.
What would happen if Kirubi decided to bring in Dangote?
Will REA b e a stand alone or will be merged to Centum as a Diversified unit?

What is this man trying to say, is it desparation, a trap, or is he just being a wise old man?

He is saying that Centum Investments Company director Dr Chris Kirubi has been crowned Africa CEO of the year at the 2015 Africa CEO Forum Awards.

Every year, organisers of the Africa CEO Forum hand out awards to companies and investors whose strategy demonstrate their determination to participate in the dynamic growth of Africa.

Kirubi tied in the top position with Algeria’s Issad Rebrab, Cevital Group CEO.

Other nominees for the award included Nigeria’s Wale Tinubu – Oando, Egypt’s Ahmed Abou Hashima – Egyptian Steel, Zimbabwe’s Morgan Nzwere – Seedco among others.

“Because their achievements encourage the emergence of competitive African businesses which have the potential of becoming international groups, the nominees – and winners – are selected for demonstrating their commitment and results in four keys areas among them, promotion of the African private sector and strengthening regional integration,” the forum organisers said.

Other areas are development of intra-African trade, social and environmental responsibility.

DIVERSIFICATION is what he calls new business frontier.
With Dangote in the next block and mohammed Moh in the other Kirubi will play his cards well to even partner with them. Whatever Dangote will be coming to do Kirubi might s well be insider.

@ KondooEconomist, he is trying to rally the share ….
and your answer can be found in the three reasons he gave for sale of his investments in UAP.
1. The Investment was ripe
2. To diversify Investments
3. To make profit

Especially on centum and diversifying Investments
Centum has so many projects at hand. We have the power projects, one the Coal Power Plant in Lamu which requires about $2 billion (Sh183 billion), we have a geothermal project in Naivasha that also requires a lot of money.
We are hopeful that we will resolve our issues to buy out REA Vipingo Plantations.
We are also developing the largest mall in East and Central Africa with a lot of complexes that include restaurants, entertainment in Two Rivers where we have 100 acres of land.
We, at the same time, we had just bought K-REP Bank (66 percent stake at Sh2.5 billion), a company that had stagnated for so long and we plan to transform it to make it what we dream it should be. We are now doing strategic studies into the bank that includes use of technology, human resource to figure out the capital we need to invest in it.

The Zero dividend policy means that one can only depend on capital gain or the company give bonus shares. Last year though they made a profit we got nothing. Is this year gonna rain some 1 for every 5 or 10 held?

CENTUM INVESTMENT AND REA TRADING SETTLE REA VIPINGO PLANTATIONS TAKEOVER STALEMATE

Centum Investment Company Limited (“Centum”) and REA Trading Limited (“REAT”) have entered into a settlement agreement in relation to their two competing bids for takeover of Rea Vipingo Plantations Limited (“RVP”). REAT initially made a takeover offer to acquire all issued ordinary shares of RVP on 25th April 2014 while Centum made a competing takeover offer on 2nd May of the same year.

Centum subsequently filed an appeal before the Capital Markets Tribunal on 9th May 2014 challenging the decision by the Capital Markets Authority to approve REAT’s offer. The High Court issued an injunction blocking the takeover of Rea Vipingo as a result. The two competing parties entered into talks aimed at breaking the stalemate and came into a settlement agreement with the following salient features:
•Centum acquires 9,646 acres of land in Vipingo at a price of KES 180,000 per acre and RVP’s subsidiary Vipingo Estates Limited which owns approximately 900 acres of land at a price of approximately Kes.340 million. The transaction prices totals to approximately KES 2.1 billion. According to the latest valuation commissioned by RVP, the market value of the land is KES 175,000 per acre;
•Centum withdraws its takeover offer of RVP Limited and its appeal against the bid made by REAT before the CMA tribunal;
•REAT will proceed with its takeover bid and it has indicated it will pay the full amount of an additional cash top-up of KES.15 per share, which together with its offer price of KES.70 per share, makes the total offer to RVP shareholders KES 85 per share.; and
•RVP will keep ownership of and continue harvesting all the sisal currently growing on the land over its lifespan while areas with mature sisal that has been harvested will be available to Centum.

The proposed sales of land and RVP’s subsidiary, Vipingo Estates Limited, are subject to the shareholders of RVP passing an ordinary resolution at a general meeting to be held on 28th April

2015. REAT (which controls 57% of the issued shares of RVP) has undertaken to Centum to vote in favour of the resolution.

Speaking about the settlement, Centum CEO, James Mworia said, “The agreement reached is a win-win for all parties involved especially RVP shareholders who will benefit from the increased offer price of KES 85 and will therefore realize a higher price for their investment. Centum shareholders will also benefit from the acquisition by their company of a prime parcel of land in Vipingo.”

Win-win situation.....when fighting with your wife...just know how to handle the situation...no fighting...just keep quiet and let her feel she has won for you to win a double.
Now Centum can give some tastier scrip dividend or bonus so that we can cut the beards.smile
