Yaani this is one thing that bothers me. Akina Moi, Kibaki, Ruto and the Kenyatta family became wealthy by looting public resources that could have been used to develop the country back then. Now they are being pampered with money that could be better used to provide security and combat terrorism. Or even just dig boreholes.
Next time a person gets carjacked or robbed at gunpoint, or next time an explosion happens remember that the money that could have been used to prevent this is instead going to Kenya's royal families.
And consider that the amounts stated above do not even include the cost maintaining Kibaki's house in Mweiga. The costs of maintaining such a colossal home must be astronomical.
Also consider the fact that most of this is done with borrowed money so true cost is even higher because the government borrows at high interest rates and has to repay loans/bonds na vinginevyo.
One would have thought that insecurity and terrorism would have become a matter of national emergency. I guess not.
Kweli Kenya ni nchi ya maajabu. Turkanas starve every year. Nairobians get carjacked on a daily basis. Tourism is as good as dead in Mombasa. So the youth are jobless and increasingly restless. 60% of urbanites live in slums with no dignity. But yet our priorities are to pamper the already wealthy royal families.
And yet at election these very same Kenyans become flock to rallies to cheer these very same politicians.
