For the one series I am not sure but for the rest eg 240,390 the last 2 digits denote the horsepower eg MF 375 has 75HP.

I think the one series is version number; like newer version of 275 is 375 otherwise both have 75HP. The last two digits are the HP as was correctly put. When it comes to ploughing, a 35x, 135 and 240 can only use a two disk plough, a 260 will straggle with a 3 disk. 165, 265, 185, 285, 275, 375 and 390 will comfortably use a 3 disk. Interesting to note is that there is the Millat Massey Ferguson these are a no go zoneShame on you They are poor Pakistan’s copies of the solid Massey Ferguson Perkins Engines. A new Millat will cost you almost half price of an original MF but will not take you far. The best bet is the MF275. MF390 has a lot of power but it is too sluggish and worst of them all is an MF590. If one is to go commercial forget Ferguson think something like New Holland/Case. An MF275 will plough about 10 acres a day while a NH tt75 will do 15 acres on similar fuel consumption and this is from experience! Anyway all depends on need coz when it comes to shelling an MF135 has the best PTO use

Otienosmall;

you have tried to answer kabisa

The first digit is the series number which does not really have a meaning as such - was used to differentiate versions only.

The last 2 digits do not necessarily reflect HP e.g 4260 has 100HP; 390 has 82HP; 399 has 104HP.

Now; the 300 series is the best ever made by MF and even the 365 ploughs with a 3 disc plough vizuri sana.

i advice you avoid the millats model 385 or 375 - bure tractors!

Get any of the 300 series and you will never regret.
