Hi members.

We have been talking about so many problems with our current political county demarcation and numbers and nobody so far have come out with a solution of what needs to be done.

I have a proposal (as outlined below) on how the new Kenya should look like and how I have arrived at the particular county boundaries. This has been achieved through current county combinations which only took sizes (area coverage) into consideration.

I have tried to keep the county sizes/areas similar with minor deviations.

However, due to uneven population distribution, the actual demographic considerations shall be dealt with in the proposed constituency demarcations (to be availed later).

As you may have noted all the counties except Turkana has more than three resident tribes which to me is a fair ethnic distribution.

Could we now start from here and let us build the Kenya we want objectively through constructive ideas (no politics please).

I also welcome the media (press, print and electronic) to carry the reconstructed proposals that we in wazua shall come up with to the grassroots so that all can be acquinted and updated on what has been discussed in the social media...the people at the grassroots may wish to contribute.

So, here we go...this is my proposal for the new Kenya...

Hiyo Nyaweri ndiyo California ya Kenya? In as much as I welcome your idea, 9 still sounds too many counties for me. Can we do five? Merge Wajiman with Marsabit, Garisiola with Tarikiki, Kiambu to go back to Salacenama and be combined with Turkana, Nairobi to stay alone and be controlled by the central govt and MPs and Nyaweri also stays the way it is as it's already too populated. Then this boundaries are not to be changed till kingdom come. As for MP's we need just 94, 2 per county (using current boundaries) and 6 nominated. Nothing like women representative in elections. MCAs to be kept at minimum and performance evaluated. 50-50, male to female nominations and the at least ⅓ rule in all the other county and central govt appointments. All counties to have their own security, education and the rest of the set-ups. Central govt work is to overlook. All commissions to be disbanded. Renumeration to be based on a laid down formula based on the president's salary. Corruption to be investigated by the national police's CID. The day that will happen or close to that, I will be the happiest Kenyan alive.

@ Kagizzard,But I thought that citizens were clamouring for divisions and subdivisions because of resource distribution,Government financing and closer leadership- you know like bringing the government closer to mwananchi?
By this merging, aren't you taking us backwards?

Tell you what? the explosion that could arise out of that Nyaweri combination alone! would be worse than the nagasaki one.

@urstill1, Thanks for your observation.

I felt that condensing the county number to five would take us back to the former Provinces where things never seemed to work because of their expansive nature.

If we merge Wajiman with Marsabit, then we have a county with a total area equivalent to 147,562 sq.km (about 25% of Kenya land mass) which is too big to offer any meaningful essential services.

We could talk about the elective posts once we fix the issue of county numbers

It has been combined with Nairobi...

you see there has been a valid argument that 70% of the entire Kiambu population work in Nairobi but reside in Kiambu...This population benefits Nairobi more than it does to Kiambu. The kiambu authorities have always said that Kiambu should be made a part of Nairobi...

Kabogo would not agree to this anymore...

ulipitwa na wakati, these suggestions would have mattered when the law was being drafted. The best option now is to reduce all their salaries afterall their "responsibilities" were greatly reduced.

You see the people believed the politicians so much like the dentist...they did not know that the politician was fighting for his/her own survival through these non-sensical subdivisions..

I bet people are feeling the impact of these subdivisions...We actually don't need 47 counties, it is a waste!!!!

My friend it wouldn't have mattered then. The Ligale fellows were too busy creating new constituencies for themselves and their parties, besides the damn constitution has allowed us to right what we feel is not good for us in it.
