Reading this article, I wonder why can't these legislators be made to approach banks like any other Kenyan for the mortgages and car loans, and have the govt. subsidize the interest (if that's the main reason for getting govt. loans). This way the banking sector will do what its supposed to do in the economy (bridge btw savers and borrowers), and the govt will use the billions which could have been otherwise locked for 5 years in other developments.
