I think this is a terrible idea, it won't work and I feel this will be the deadliest strike ever. Never before have we had all cadres downing their tools at the same time. Personally I have very little faith in county governments.

I had a chat with a doc in a far-flung district hospital and to say this health devolution is a big mistake is an understatement.

According to the doc, their county has circulated sort of sign up forms (I saw them) where they are supposed to state their current basic salary and sign. The county argues this is the amount they are going to be paying them. No allowances (which comprise about 60% of the total salary) like extraneous since the county argues this is 'your county/home'. Home can't be extraneous!

In another county, the local 'loud mouths' have been in visiting the local radio stations and repeated stating that 'foreigners' in the local district hospital must go.

As I write this, I know three MedSups have quit their jobs to join Agha Khan after the got frustrated working with their county's Min. of Health.

This strike better not be. We would rather have a referendum to incorporate a Health Services Commission in katiba.

I thought there was another thread #sick@50 ?

anyways if you follow the #sick@50 on twirra you will realize the medics have very genuine grievances against this devilution manenos.

they want to serve under a national Health Services Commission just like Judiciary, Police, Teachers sans rest of civil service, free to transfer between stations and counties, be in a union etc

from the kidogo goings on in the counties especially recruitment issues, you cannot wish away what the daktaris are saying

irony is most of the policy makers and noise makers who are refusing to listen to daktaris do not seek public healthcare services Sad Sad Sad

wanavuka majuu or go to AAR , Getrudes, Nairobi Hospital Agha Khan or private hospitals

I feel the medical professionals. Being under county govt for such essential services is demotivating.

BUT, I blame them for not raising this thing early enough. In 2010. Shame on you Shame on you They just followed the euphoria?

@ Siringi, I completely agree with you. Health is not something you can gamble with.

This is a small group with minimum number of free riders unlike civil service. The strike might be effective.
Peace be with you

The HSC draft bill has been pending in parliament since 2010.
