wrong strategy Mr president and dp.

will lead to economic contraction when we need stimulus.

retrenching one person affects many others.bad for economy.

guys we are slowly going back to the destructive 90s politically economically and socially.
moi wasted us. the generation then.uhuru wants to waste our children now.are we doomed?

clear ghost workers from public staff payroll first.

70% on recurrent expenditure mostly salaries isn't necessarily bad.I see it as a form of wealth distribution.

that one civil servant employs many more in his private ventures and the cake gets to the bottom faster and widely.

With all due respect, you are the one with the destructive 90s mentality where nepotism ruled. Kwani it's Ugandans benefiting from the accruing savings? I am with the President and Deputy on this. With this expensive katiba and necessary mega development projects restructuring is expected. We cannot continuously increase taxes to bridge the deficit neither can we stall development in time so as not to spend. Systems and the actors in the system must be made more efficient and transparent for cost savings. Jubilee administration are making some tough calls that have to be made.

8 months into the Job and they are talking retrenchment.

This is quite ironical coming from a man who was recently accused of blowing 100m in luxury jet to west africa.

how comes the best president Kenya has ever had Kibaki never talked of retrenchment yet we were in a good economic trajectory in his two terms?
retrenchment is regressive and may even send the wrong signal.

we need to deal with state waste before sending anyone home.

How i miss the Kibaki era, when both the govt and private sector were employing like crazy due to improved economy growing at 7%. This digital team seems to have started on the wrong footing. They are a disaster for the country's workforce. Shindwe! They should know that politicians come and go but the workers always remain there. The workers were there during Moi era, Kibaki era and are there now during Uhuru era. And they will be there after Uhuruto.

Civil servants have school fees to pay, 20yr mortgages to pay etc, some mortgages even taken during nyayo era. So jubilee wawache upusi!

Quick fact check:
What was Kenya's borrowing over that period?
When was the new constitution - with it's expensive wage bill - implemented?

Mnataka muambiwe nini? With those two things combining above, the GoK is broke regardless of who would have been at the helm this term!!

We increased the number of politicians via the new constitution, now we have to sack the guys who do the work (Civil service) to maintain the politicians.

All civil servants 55yrs and above are going home. The process has already started.
Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

This is the problem with having ex-chicken sellers in power. They have never held a 8-5 job in their lives and thus don't know what retrenchment means for career civil servants and their families.
