At a time when the continent is faced with a myriad of problems, AU chooses to direct its energies, primitive or otherwise, towards saving two individuals who are sorting out - personal challenges.

The issues in DR Congo are being sorted by Western powers. Rebel Kony matter and now CAR situation remain thorny issues in Africa.

African Union. It replaced the Organization of African Unity. In name only.

Introducing red herrings such as who caused what problem sits very well with the usual African refrain of always blaming the next guy, the other guy, anybody else but self!

There is the matter brewing up in CAR - What AU doing about it.

Earlier this year there were problems in Mali. It took a European power to settle matters there. Where was AU.

As we blame the Western powers for anything and everything, our brethren keep on drowning in distant seas or starving in lonely deserts as they flee near dog life conditions in Africa for well run and working societies.

With the kind of leadership Africa has, it would be foolhardy to expect any positive change any time soon.
