The African Union has called for an extraordinary meeting to discuss possible mass pull out of African countries from the ICC and pass a resolution requiring UK NOT to attend the trial.

Now, I had no idea Kenya was this influential. Or are African existing and upcoming dictators afraid of the ICC?

Anyway, whatever the case we are in for very interesting times.

BBI will solve it

ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) - African
leaders will meet in the Ethiopian
capital on October 13 to take a
common stance on whether to join
Kenya's planned pull-out from the
International Criminal Court (ICC)
over the prosecution of its leaders,
officials said on Thursday.
So far there does not seem to be
much support for it, but heads of
state from the 54-member African
Union (AU) may still discuss the
possibility of a pullout by the 34
African signatories to the Rome
Statute that created the tribunal

Mass pullout from ICC by African nations, in my opinion, will spell death of ICC as we know it! Clearly this Kenyan case will, at the end, impact ICC tremendously!

However, I think the PORK should attend and clear his name!

Agreed. Its sad that it has come to this. But of all continents I think Africa needs ICC the most.

I think a pull out will sail through easily. No head sitting of state would want to be taken for trial leave alone in a foreign country.

BBI will solve it

Events at the ICC have confirmed who it's real shadow forces are.

Kenya and other African countries should withdraw with conditions for their re-admittance into it.

It's laughable ICC agreed to have Gaddafi's son be being tried in LIBYA but the same institution demands our sitting head of state and deputy attend at its pleasure only, not that of the people it claims to be helping get justice.

Meanwhile, it's vocal proponents ensure George Bush and Tony Blair the architects of 135,000 Iraqi deaths and over 4,000 US Servicemen and women, walk around safe and sound, with nothing even of a mention of them being brought to justice.

Kenya should do what is in its interests first and foremost.

That's precisely why they'll pull out. The people under threat of facing the ICC in future are the people in power now and sadly they are the same people with the power to withdraw their states.

BBI will solve it

Africans need the ICC the most, look at all those africans employed at the hague - hawa heads of states just want to increase unemployment in Africa.

Plus Africans are the biggest culprits of crimes against humanity, I don't have the figures but I have a gut feeling that over the past, say 80 years - its Africans who have committed the worst atrocities including murder and displacement. In fact I would not be surprised if the order of the worst continents in terms of crimes against humanity is;

1. Africa
2. Asia
3. S/America,
4. Europe
5. ... and the best continent is N/America (lets also join Australia and is neighbours here)
