3 contentious elections, 2 contenders agreed to a nusu mkate that came to haunt them later while Ouattar took the full loaf and had the 'usurper' sent to the Hague. Is there a lesson to be learnt here?

Depends on the 3 Contentious elections you are referring to. I hope you are not referring to Kenya because we have never had one. In Kenya, It's been a case of Certain people being in VERY DARK Goggles.

contentious is a subjective term. stolen or fraudulent is not.
